The adrenal glands are often found to be enlarged on scans for staging of primary tumours from elsewhere.  There is a high incidence of benign adrenal adenomas and it is necessary to distinguish between secondary deposits and benign incidental lesions.

This may be done by needle biopsy but less interventional techniques such as CT or MRI are proving of value
